Popular Ways to Mountain Bike

One thing I love about mountain biking is its wide diversity. There are so many ways in which to ride it, and endless locations that can range from forests, parks, mountains, deserts, and even variations within them. As with any other sports, there are several all time favorite styles that have been practiced for a while and whose popularity around fans and bikers has not only maintained, but increased over the years.

Among the most popular forms of mountain bike riding is cross country. Cross country is as beautiful as physically demanding. The landscapes involved are so varied and beautiful; you pass through rivers, tracks, roads, hills and the view can be breath taking, but it demands excellent fitness from the biker because the road is challenging and very long.

Freeriding is another popular subdivision for mountain biking, as well as one of the most daring. Freeriding consists in finding a good line downhill and blazing trough the end. The terrain is usually rocky, so it is easy to lose control and end up injured, so it is more practiced among the most confident and experienced riders.

One of my favorite parts in mountain biking is dirt jumping. This is a extreme sport very similar to the one performed with BMX bikes. Dirt jumping with mountain bikes is perhaps not as show-off as BMX jumping, but its grade of difficulty is higher, so it is reserved only to the more experienced bikers.

If all you care about is speed, then downhill style is the way to go. Going downhill in a mountain bike is one of the most exciting experiences you can have. The courses in downhill are not as tricky as in cross country, but the rush of adrenaline you get makes you want more and more. When going to do downhill, it is important to choose well your course. You need to make sure there aren't important obstacles or sharp turns because as such high speeds, you bike can lose control and you'll be severely injured. Perhaps the most popular form of mountain bike riding is to ride your bike on the street. This can be done by even the most amateur biker, so it's a great place to start. Sure it is not as beautiful as cross riding, or as exciting as the downhill or dirt jump styles, but is very accessible, you can still have fun with your friends and family and is a great way to exercise.
