Porky's Bar-BQ is very easy to miss. Located in a small red barn nestled in between a hotel and a gas station, Porky's is one of those blink and you miss it places. Luckily in June I was hungry and on the look out for food when I spotted Porky's Bar-BQ. The delicious smell of smoked pork pulled us into the small restaurant where we were warmly greeted by the owners. We arrived at closing time but the owners were very friendly and told us not to worry about the time and order whatever we wanted.
The menu is very reasonable priced with pulled pork sandwiches and 1 side for $6.99, half a slab of ribs for $11.95, sliced brisket for $7.99, and an assortment of burgers and sides at similar prices. We decided on pulled pork sandwiches with grilled corn on the cob. As we waited for our food to be cooked, our waitress (and co-owner) was extremely nice and chatty with us. The June weather was perfect so we decided to eat our food outside on one of the patio tables. The food was delicious. The pork was perfectly smoked and the bar-b-que sauce was amazing. The bun was lightly toasted and the corn on the cob was buttery perfection. I am now addicted to grilled corn on the cob and addicted to Porky's Bar-BQ.
I am now so addicted to Porky' Bar-BQ that we stopped by twice on our August weekend trip to Branson. The first night we had my favorite pulled pork sandwiches. We also decided to try the half slab of pork ribs and coleslaw. The half slab of pork ribs were very good but cut differently then I am used to. The rib tips were lift on which left the slab extremely hard to cut with the plastic utensil provided. On this trip we got our food to go and took it back to our rented condo. Luckily the condo had some steak knives so were able to cut up the ribs. It was just a little more difficult then expected. The coleslaw was good but really just consisted of cabbage and dressing. The corn was still to die for. The service was still excellent and the staff extremely friendly.
We stopped by again on Saturday because after a long day at Silver Dollar City, we didn't feel like waiting at a crowded restaurant. Instead we just got more pulled pork sandwiches and corn on the cob to go. We also got a side of sweet potato fries. The food was great as usual.
It is nice to find a restaurant with consistent great food and consistent great service. I highly recommend Porky's Bar-BQ to anyone visiting Branson. I know I will be back in December. I even asked to make sure they don't close for the off season. The waitress said they will probably close January and February but they will be open in December.
