Porn Video Shot in Bartlett Grove Park: Sexual Exhibitionism and Public Indecency

Heather K. Adams
According to several online news sources, a video has been discovered on an adult pornography website in which a female model exposes herself at the Bartlett Grove Park in Bartlett, Tenn., a Memphis suburb. In Action News 5's description of the video, the female model tells the camera she wants to come out for the day, then she exposes herself on the playground slide.

A mother, upon hearing of the video, was quoted by Action News 5 as saying she would not allow her child to play on that slide again.

The adult pornography website was not released by Action News 5, but the news station says it is filled with explicit pornography and there are promises for more public sexual exhibitionism.

What is sexual exhibitionism?

Sexual exhibitionism is the act of exposing ones' private areas in an indecent and public manner. Sexual exhibitionists derive sexual pleasure from exposing themselves, due in part of its dangerous nature. The fear of being caught, being exposed further, the rush of adrenaline are all seductive to the sexual exhibitionist.

Is sexual exhibitionism/public exposure illegal?

Sexual exhibitionism in and of itself is not illegal; public exposure is. The model in the Bartlett Grove Park video, if caught, faces charges of at least public indecency, according to Action News 5's police source.

As sexual exhibitionism can occur in a private setting, it is not illegal unless done in a public area. With some sexual exhibitionists, the term 'public' is based on perception. The thrill of exposing oneself can still happen in the safety of one's home, and therefore not illegal.

Safe Ways of Expression for a Sexual Exhibitionist and Voyeur

Couples who engage in sexual exhibitionism and voyeurism can experience these sexual thrills in the privacy of their own bedroom. One doesn't need to go to a playground like in Bartlett Grove Park to get the thrill of exposure. Taking photographs or video, inviting a third participant into the bedroom, or attending private clubs in which exhibitionism is allowed are all ways to safely practice sexual exhibitionism.

Viewing legal adult porn websites is another way of experiencing sexual voyeurism with or without a partner. A sexual voyeur is someone who likes to watch others engaged in sexually lewd acts.

It should be noted that exhibitionism should only be practiced with someone you trust explicitly, and even then isn't the safest way to play, as photographs and video can be leaked.

Other Cases of Indecent Exposure: Baggy pants deemed illegal in Flint, Michigan

In July 2008, the Flint, Michigan chief of police issued a 'crack-down' on accidental exposure due to baggy pants. According to several news sources and online blogs, including the Detroit Free Press, the breakdown of charges is as follows: "Pants pulled completely below the buttocks with underwear showing is disorderly conduct; saggy pants with skin of the buttocks showing is indecent exposure, and saggy pants, not completely below the buttocks, with underwear exposed results in a warning."

Those in violation of the law can face 93 days and up to a year in jail and/or a $500 fine.

Will the model and those who videotaped the Bartlett Grove Park video be charged?

The film crew and model could face multiple charges. According to Action News 5's police source, there is also a question of the model's age. The news source found which adult porn website the video was featured on, but they were unable to track down the model. Police are investigating the incident, as the Bartlett police captain says the girl is clearly breaking the law.

Who cares, avgcit? A lot of decent people care - especially those with kids. Don't people have ANY shame these days? Why do YOU care how the reporter found the video Ms. anonymous? Nothing like trying to turn the focus onto the reporter. It's all about money. Good report.

You MUST be kidding me?? Who cares? There were NO people around! NObody would have known had the reporter not told anyone. And just how DID that reporter find the video to begin with??

It's Foxy Jacky (foxyjacky.com) for anyone who cares. She's a local porn celebrity, over 18, well established. She's not flashing kids, or anyone else for that matter except her camera-dude/partner. The stupid media attention will pass & the cops should leave her alone.

PS. In the photos at least, her miniskirt is between her body & the slide. I'm sure she doesn't want her .... private regions ... touching the public slide either.

Saggy pants against the law! And what law enforcement agency is going to waste time on this? What if I have them on in my home? Crazy stupid, next you will hear about bra straps showing, and guess what that has been considered as a "crime" or how about having an erection in public? Will that be against the law next?

Some people will do anything for attention...

All I can add is it must have been a cloudy, overcast day because it is difficult enough going some some slides on hot days. Even with clothes on, the burning heat from that metal is intense! Why would anyone want to take a chance like that? For the publicity or shock value, I guess.

There are so many more things that the police should be doing. The whole thing was stupid, granted, but no one got hurt. If the police got involved in every incident of public stupidity... Well, consider the possibilities.
