Porsche Launches 250,000th Cayenne

Sports car manufacturer Porsche launched 250,000th Cayenne from its Leipzig facility in Germany. The latest Cayenne from the SUV segment is powered by a 6-cylinder diesel engine. In the year 2002, the first Cayenne model was introduced.

According to the Porsche officials, the luxury SUV received an great response since its launch and the first generation Porsche Cayenne was sold 150,000 in numbers worldwide. The second generation Cayenne introduced in February 2007 and has accounted sales of 45,478 units in the year 2007-2008.

In the words of Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG, "The introduction of the Cayenne as the third model in the series was an important strategic step for Porsche. The five-seater is not only a great addition to the range for our many long-term Porsche customers, but it also opens up to us an entirely new customer segment on international markets."

Currently Cayenne series comes in seven different models. This dashing SUV was also appreciated with impressive rating by a research institute J.D Power Asia. Cayenne was awarded for its excellent manufacturing quality and high reliability in class in 2008.
