Porsha Thompson, 20, Run Over in Wal-Mart Parking Lot

Ms. Marie
It was around 6:30 in the evening, the day before Thanksgiving, when Porsha and Jamar Thompson, her brother, arrived at the Wal-Mart parking lot on South Post Oak in Southwest Houston. What happened? Why was a woman run over in Wal-Mart parking lot?

"We were waiting with the blinker on for a parking spot," said Jamar Thompson. A black Dodge Durango with four people inside pulled around and hit their car. News reports say that two females were in the front seat and two males were in the back seat of the Durango. "They [Durango occupants] got out with blades and were waving their knives..." Jamar added.

Moments later, his sister Porsha got out to check the damage to her vehicle, and the woman driving the Durango hit Porsha, running her over then took off. Twenty year-old Porsha Thompson is at the Memorial Hermann Hospital, she is brain dead and breathing on a ventilator; sadly she is not expected to survive.

The woman that was driving the black Dodge Durango needs to be brought in, she is very dangerous, anyone that can become angry enough to run a human being over because of a parking spot poses a serious threat to society. Driving can be hectic, but those who lack the patience and self-control needed when operating a motor vehicle should not be allowed the privilege. Stress, traffic, impatience is not an excuse to resort to road rage!

New laws, stricter laws, need to be enacted because the days of one honking a horn, or even flipping the bird when a driver becomes frustrated while driving are long gone. Road rage has become deadly, and drivers need to know that cutting someone off, tailgating and chasing someone, getting out their vehicle with or without a weapon and threatening someone, etc., will either cost them their privilege to drive, fines or jail time.

Road rage can lead to violence if you are confronted by an aggressive driver think before you act, it may save your life. No matter how wrong they may be let them have their way and be gone, even if that means you have to give up the best or only parking spot in a parking lot. It's not worth it.

There are a few things that you can do to avoid having a run in with a driver experiencing road rage, but remember they are not rational so avoiding a conflict is usually the safest thing to do.

10 Ways to Avoid Dangerous Road Rage Conflicts

1. Avoid eye contact
2. Keep your cool do not react
3. Do not try to mimic an aggressive drivers behavior
4. Resist the urge to blow the horn
5. Never stop and get out of your car
6. Drive to a police station, or fire station, etc.
7. Do not show anger or physically expressions
8. Slow up or move over and let them pass
9. Do not drive to your home if an irate driver is tailing you
10. Always think of your safety, never under-estimate what a irrational driver may resort to.

Why was Porsha Thompson, 20, run over in a Wal-Mart parking lot? Because road rage is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed. This is not the first case of road rage that may result in a death, and it probably will not be the last incident. There have been many other cases of road rage where serious bodily injury or death has occurred because someone tried to confront, stop, or even talk to an out of control driver.

A life for a parking spot? The female driving that black Dodge Durango used a vehicle as a deadly weapon. Anyone with information about the incident notify authorities, contact the Houston Police Department, the number to call is 713-247-4065.

This is ridiculous and insane. The girl who drove that car should be brought to justice. Rage over a parking? Come on? These type of people should be sent to hospital for psychriatic checks.

Well the case of Porsha Thompson is far more serious, she wasn't just threatened with violence by all the occupants of the Durango.
They are all party to Porsha's attempted murder because they are knowingly aiding and abetting the driver, and share in her murderious intent. Porsha maynot yet died of her injuries but as her organs continue to fail its simply a matter of time, meanwhile three accomplices who actively participated in the commission of a crime along with the driver go about concealing themselves.
It would be a simple matter for the police to check vehicle registrations of all owner's Black Durango in the region if they wanted too, had Porsha been an active duty law enforcement officer I certain there would be a more serious effort to find her killer.

I had a guy try to run me off the road once because I was going the speed limit, and he was in a rush so I thought, when we got to a red light he pulled into the left turning lane, and I figured great at least now he won't be on my tail. Well, I made the mistake of looking over at him for a brief second. When the light turned green he didn't turned but followed me, now in two lanes he jerked and kept trying to hit me, I hit my brakes, went off into the swail, grabed a pen and got his plate as he waited to do a uturn. Called police to report it, it was a rental and no way to identify the driver, police said...why I say avoid eye contact...

Wow. That is just horrible. I experienced a case of road rage this week. I honestly thought the woman would kill me. I was turning the corner to my home (we live on a corner). There were cars parked down both sides of the road as always. I looked and started to turn into my driveway when I suddenly realized one of those cars was moving. I stopped immediately and didn't even come close to hitting the woman who was in a huge SUV (I was in a tiny Toyota). I stopped to roll down my window to apologize but the look on her face was pure rage. When she reached over to grabe something to her side, I decided I'd better hightail it out of there. I think if she had a gun she would have shot me over a simple mistake. I have a spotless driving record and have never had anything like that happen before. I think it is dangerous to have cars parked down both sides of a neighborhood road. That kind of thing has to happen far too often.

Good, because people need to take this "road rage" serious, and there was not much coverage of this deadly incident. I hope they catch the driver, if that girl dies this is murder - vehicular homicide - whatever...a life for over a parking spot!
