Portable Scanners Help Reduce Clutter and Keep You Organized

Jimmy Collins
Portable scanners are a great way to help keep yourself organized and your desk clutter free. If you are like most business people, then you no doubt have a mound of receipts that are all over your desk, but you can't get rid of them because you either need them for you expense account or for your accountant at the end of the year. You also probably have a ton of business cards that you collected over the course of possibly months and they too will begin to jam your desk up.

A portable scanner is just what it sounds like, it is a scanner and it is portable. While your printer at the office may have a scanner, you are not likely going to lug that printer around with you when you go on a business trip, but with a portable scanner you can take it anywhere.

In order to take advantage of these portable scanners, you simply scan your receipt or a business card no matter where you may be. Then when you are ready, your portable scanner hooks up to your computer with a standard USB cord and you can then send the images of what was scanned to your computer and save them in any media type that you choose. This keeps you organized and clutter free all at the same time.

When I was a stock broker I was always getting new business cards from people I would meet. I also managed to rack up quite a few recipes taking clients to lunch, paying for tolls on the road, and things of that nature. Soon enough my desk was nothing more than an avalanche of paper. That's when I discovered portable scanners. Now I am never without my portable scanner no matter where my business travels take me.

Portable scanners can be purchased for anywhere from around $99 all the up to around $400 and more. While you probably don't need to get the most expensive one on the market, you certainly don't want to go with the cheapest either. According to PC.Com, the best of the best is the Canon imageFormula P-150 Scan-tiny and that unit comes in at around $300.

One thing is for sure though, once you get a portable scanner you will wonder how you ever got along without one. I did, and I know you will too.
