Instead we picked up two vanity bar lights from our local Lowe's home improvement store for very reasonable prices. The two bar light is placed over our sink and medicine cabinet, and the three bar light is placed over the other side of our bathroom counter.
The two bar light was only $58, and the three bar light was around $64. When we were ready to install these lights, I was very upset because both of the boxes did not have all of the parts to get the job done. There are small marble like knobs that connect the bar portion to the screw, and each light had a missing ball knob.
We took them back to Lowe's in exchange for new boxes (which we checked before we brought them home), and the store gave us a 10% discount for our trouble. Very nice. The exchanged lights had all the parts intact, and we had no problems.
My husband is not an electrician, and he is not even much of a handy man, but he was able to install these lights without any problems. They come with clear, illustrated instructions, and not too many parts to deal with. To install you will need wire strippers, a Phillips screw driver, a level, wire cutters, ladder or stool, flathead screw driver, and electrical tape.
The lights themselves consist of a rectangular shaped base, and the lights come out via a scroll shaped metal bar. There is a white glass shade at the end of each arm. The Portfolio Portfolio Vanity Bar Lights with Antique Nickel Finish were not available in any other finishes (at least not in our Lowe's store), but our other fixtures are also in the brushed nickel finish, so these blended perfectly.
The Portfolio Vanity Bar Lights with Antique Nickel Finish can use 100 watt bulbs, so when these are turned on they give off a ton of light, very nice and very much needed in a bathroom. When we were finished, we placed our builders level along the bottom portion of the base, and were able to turn it slightly until the bubble told us we had it perfectly level on our wall. Once this was screwed down tightly, the light base was very tight against the wall, and it gave our bathroom a very elegant and updated look. I don't think anyone would guess that we paid so little for our Portfolio Vanity Bar Lights with Antique Nickel Finish! Highly recommended product.
