The menu includes appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, pizzas, calzones, and desserts. Beverages available include soft drinks, wines, locally brewed beers and ales on tap, and the usual assortment of bottled beers. The specialty pizzas are named after places in Maine, such as the Monhegan, the Moosehead, the Aroostook, and the Cadillac Mountain.
For an appetizer, we chose honey BBQ pork wings. These were tender, succlulent chunks of bone in pork rib meat broiled with a tasty sauce, and served with carrot sticks, and a side of ranch dressing at $8.99.. These were followed with garden salads consisting of a variety of greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, green pepper, broccoli and purple onions for $3.49. All the salad fixings were very fresh. The dressings were served on the side. when extra dressing was requested it was provided, but we noticed a $.50 charge for it on the tab.
We opted for the 12 inch Old Orchard Pizza which was topped with a blend of three cheeses, roasted red peppers, green peppers, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts at $12.99.. (I did ask them to leave off the artichoke hearts, which they gladly did.) The pizza was well-cooked; I notice the bottom of the garlic crust we chose was nicely browned. The red sauce had a hint of red pepper giving it a tiny, pleasant kick. The toppings were generous, which made for a delicious, satisfying meal. Our tab, including two beers came to $40.08 which seemed reasonable given the quality and quantity of food we shared.
Pizzas are available in 10, 12, and 16 inch regular crust, and a 14 inch thin crust. The price range for the pizzas was $10.99 to $18.99, depending on your choice of size and toppings. If none of the gourmet pizzas appealed to you, it was possible to build your own pie selecting from a variety of toppings and crusts.
We had such full stomachs after our meal, we had to forego the desserts, which included a S'mores Pie which looked and sounded heavenly.
Portland Pie Company and the Scarborough location offers a friendly, family atmosphere with a varied menu with something for every one.
