Mio Sushi
2271 Northwest Johnson Street, Portland, OR 97210-3229
Mio is situated right in the popular downtown area of Portland, Oregon. It has a casual, relaxed atmosphere and prices are quite affordable (for sushi!). Voted Best of CitySearch (2004), Best Sushi (KaTU News), one of the Willamette's Weekly Picks (2005-2006 and 2007-2008). Mio was first opened by Sonny Kim and his wife Joon in 1994, and Mio Sushi now includes several other sushi restaurants in the Portland metro region. For veggie fans, be sure to check out their Super Vegi Roll. Supposedly, Mio can get pretty crowded at peak times, but this happens with popular sushi joints quite often. Call them ahead of time if you need to at (503) 221-1469, and check out their website at http://www.miosushi.com.
Yoko's Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar
2878 Southeast Gladstone Street, Portland, OR 97202-3561
(503) 736-9228
Yoko's offers a large selection of Japanese food and some excellent sushi. It is located near the Kenilworth city park and just eat of the Fred Meyer's on Gladstone Street. Saki and sushi are their listed specialties and they offer Japense beer and micro brews. Priced at $10-$15 per entree, and their salmon is supposed to be wild caught, not farm-raised, so try it out!
Mika Sushi
1425 Southwest 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97201
(503) 222-0699
This is another sushi spot in Portland with high-rated vegetarian sushi, definitely worth checking out. Super close to the Portland City Hall, Mika is right in the heart of the "trendy" section of downtown Portland. It has an attractive entry way and should be pretty easy to spot from the street. Prices are also fairly standard for sushi and not too extravagant. Hamachi Nigiri is priced at $3.50, Masago at $2.50, California Rolls at $4.50 and Spicy Tune rolls at $5.50. They also have a big selection of Bento combo boxes, for $9.95 each. Mika also offers catering for events and has an excellent website for setting up catering if needed (http://www.mika.allsitebysite.com).
Portland has all kinds of fantastic food to eat, consider using the wonderful coupons at Restaurant.com to save a little money when venturing out to all these eateries. Happy dining!
