Portman May Get Snubbed at This Year's Oscars

In any other year, Jennifer Lawrence would easily be the Oscar front runner for best actress for her role in Winter's Bone. But this year, Natalie Portman delivered one of the greatest performances of the decade in her role as the nutty bi-curious ballerina in Black Swan. Over the course of 12 months, Portman spent several hours a day rehearsing the complicated dance sequences. In the end, her hard work paid off. Her performance was nearly flawless. So why would the Academy possible snub her this year? Two words: Ashton Kutcher.

Perhaps you've missed or ignored the billions of billboards, television ads, and computer pop up ads for No Strings Attached, a date night flick starring Kutcher and Portman, so terrible it nearly ended up going straight to DVD. I can only guess that after a year of intense focus on Black Swan, she thought it would be fun to do something light. Or maybe she owed someone in Hollywood a huge favor? Whatever the reason, her decision play opposite Ashton Kutcher two weeks before the nominations may seriously jeopardize her chances at a well deserved Oscar. Personally, I hope they snub her, if only to teach other talented actresses a lesson about doing date movies with no talent hacks like Kutcher.
