Positive Activities for a College Student to Get Involved in on a College Campus

DeeDee
College campuses sometimes get a bad rap. The media has associated college life with partying at fraternity and sorority parties which is true, but not for everyone. There are many positive things that a college student can become involved in if drinking isn't their scene. College officials have hired an entire staff which is usually Student Services that make it their day-to-day business to engage college students in a wealth of activities and events on a regular basis. The only thing stopping some college students is a lack of desire to try these things out. Give them a chance and you'll see that they are a lot of fun and a much safer choice, particularly since they are usually supervised and monitored by campus security.

Get involved with the college media. College students attending the Communications Department will be enthralled with being a disc jockey for the radio station, or a writer for the college newspaper. The added bonus to be keeping college students out of trouble is that being involved with these activities adds things to the students resume.

Find your faith. Most college campuses have churches that vary in denomination, plus have student organizations that put on activities like Christian Groups.

Participate in college created activities. Student activities works diligently to create fun events that college students can attend. A lot of time and effort is put into these events so why not give one a try. Homecoming activities like parades, student comedy nights, author readings, and concerts are just some of the fun things that college students can do without leaving the campus and without participating in parties.

Serve the community through campus organizations. College exist in part to improve the surrounding community. But doing so takes a lot of work and requires a lot of help. College students can sign up to raise money at a dance-a-thon, participate in a Walk for Charity, plant flowers on campus and the surrounding area, clean up litter, and much more.

Join a service fraternity or sorority. These organizations aren't always about partying. Some are solely focused on helping others. Join with one of those groups, make life long friends, and help those in need.

Attend an event in the arts. Campus have concerts, plays, and dance recitals on an ongoing basis and are often free which is the perfect scenario for college students.

Support your college team. Go out to one of the athletic events like a football game, soccer tournament, hockey, or whatever your pleasure. College students are bound to make friends there.
