Many people make the mistake of thinking about their daily concerns and worries about the future as they fall asleep. This is a mistake because your subconscious mind "replays" what you focus on immediately before falling to sleep; this is why when you think about where you left your keys you mysteriously "remember" after waking up from a nap. It is also why many teachers recommend studying for a test immediately before bed and then again in the morning.
Try the technique and see if it works for you. Here are the key steps:
1. Take several rounds of deep breaths. Inhale, hold for ten seconds, and then exhale -- do this several times as you "sink" into the bed or couch and relax deeply.
2. Clear your thoughts of the day's concerns, upcoming responsibilities/chores, and so forth. Focus on something you want to have within the next six months (a new relationship, career, more money, better health?)
3. Now, continue to focus on this goal and experience how it would feel if you already had it in your life. What does it truly feel like now that all of your friends and family know you have the new job or the new girlfriend? Are they calling and texting you with their heartfelt congratulations? Are you excited? Are you content? Allow yourself to feel and embrace these emotions.
4. Continue to fantasize and experience how this success would feel as if it were already here -- do this until you drift off to sleep.
Repeat these steps every evening for the next week. If you don't notice any results, feel free to stop the exercise -- but if you start to experience promising results, I would recommend you continue doing it each night. Your practice will continue to yield solid results. You may come across the "right" person who helps you get a career you have been wanting for years; a new stock market investment may suddenly turn a large profit; you may get introduced to someone at a party who turns out to be a possible soulmate.
With regular use of the positive sleep technique, I have experienced faster promotions at work and have also made a lot of money. I also met my last girlfriend using this technique. Was the positive sleep technique solely responsible? Well, who knows, but if you're in bed anyway you might as well try it. I believe it could produce powerful results for you as well.
I also have several friends who use this technique before competitions and important sales calls. It generally works wonders. Good luck!
