Positive Thinking Leads to Positive Action

Kelly Wallace
There are people who have been through things that would send some people diving off the nearest high-rise head-first into the cement below just to end the misery. Yet they not only moved past their obstacles, but they excelled and created a life of success, wealth, and happiness that many people only dream of having. How did they do it? How can you?

Everyone has a but, and some are bigger than others. Some of the most common buts I've seen are:

*But I'm too old

*But I'm too young

*But I have kids

*But I'm a single parent

*But I'm on public assistance

*But I have responsibilities

*But I've had a rough life

*But I wasn't born rich

*But I don't have those opportunities

*But I'm too poor, too heavy, too unmotivated, too busy, too tired, too (fill in the blank with your but.)

As you can see, while some of these statements may be true, they're also well-worn excuses holding you back. There are people who have been through things that would send some people diving off the nearest high-rise head-first into the cement below just to end the misery. Yet they not only moved past their obstacles, but they excelled and created a life of success, wealth, and happiness that many people only dream of having. They did it. Why can't you? Let me guess, your but is showing again?

Don't worry; I know exactly where you're coming from. For 39 years of my life I had the biggest but ever. Life had handed me the doo-doo end of the stick and I just kept hanging on! One day it all hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks, "I'm responsible for wherever I end up in life! I can't let the past hold me back or my problems weigh me down. If I do, I'll never get anywhere!"

I decided, right then and there to take charge and take responsibility for my life. No, it's not easy crawling out from under the pile of garbage your life has become, and in some areas maybe it's going pretty darn good, but you don't want an okay life. You want to look back on it and smile, to rejoice, to jump up and down and say, "I did it!"

Turning your life around is as simple as turning around your thoughts. Why? Because thoughts lead to action--or inaction! Once you begin to think and do more positive things, no matter how small in the beginning, you'll become a magnet attracting what you focus on. Read that last sentence one more time. There's a clue. You attract what you focus on! Think it isn't so? Look around at your life. Is it everything you've ever dreamed of, or everything you've feared or dreaded? Yeah, you have some good things in your life. We all do. But do the good outweigh the bad or the blah? Exactly. Now that a new year has started, make the decision to finally, once and for all, get rid of your but.

You'll be glad you did.
