Possible 8th Harry Potter Book?

"Weak Moments" May Lead to Another Book

As I finished the last page of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", I couldn't help but wonder what the author had in store for the future of the Boy Who Lived. And apparently, I wasn't the only one.

Everyone has been speculating about whether or not J.K. Rowling will write another novel about the Boy Wizard. At times, even Ms. Rowling was not sure. In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the world renowned author is quoted as saying "There have been times since finishing, weak moments when I've said, 'Yeah, all right, to the eight novel." Rowling says that if she writes another story, Harry won't be the main character.

So, where would the eight novel go with this story? That's what I have been speculating on myself. For those who finished the seventh novel, you know that Harry and Ginny Weasley get married and have children, along with Ron and Hermione Granger, who do the same. Even that nasty little Slytherin, Malfoy gets married and has a kid. The impression that I got was that Harry's kids did not understand why everyone on the Hogwart's Express was staring at their Dad.

It would seem to me that, Rowling could not do another story about Voldemort, as that would be rather redundant. The Boy Who Lived has moved on with his life and is happy. Voldemort is long dead, and there would be little chance of reviving him. That too, would be redundant. So, how to add to this story without making the story all about Harry again. What could Rowling do to add something interesting to this wonderful tale of Magic and Friendship.

My idea would to go backwards, of sorts. Maybe explore the lives of James and Lily Potter, Sirius Black and Lupin, just to name a few. Or even go back further and explore the life of Albus Dumbledore. That might prove to be very interesting given the information told in the last book. I don't know how interesting it might be, or what twist she might be able to put on the story, but I would definitely read it, no matter what story line she comes up with.

Incidentally, Rowling has indicated that she's currently working on a book that is for adults. I wonder what wonderful world she will draw us into this time? Will it be about the world of Potter, or will it be something completely different? And I honestly hope that we DON'T have to wait another 10 years to find out!!

i finished the 7th probably 2 or 3 months ago.the harry potter series is probably the best series i have ever read(and i read A LOT)and i to thought joanne finished it to abrubtly.when it comes to an 8th book,i would give the library back their copy of eldest and go straight to the bookstore with tears in my eyes.when it comes to a topic,i dont think we should go back.i think we should keep moving forward.i hope im not the only one who sees this, but harry had 3 KIDS!PICK ONE JOANNE AND START WRITING!YOU'RE FANS ARE SAD AND MAD AND-AND-ARGH!ummmmm....srry for yelling.anyways....if i were you joanne kathlene rowling, then i would choose albus.he just seems most like harry.anyways,it is you're choice.i mean, you build something up as great as harry potter, then you tear it down.you have an entire world full of magic, fantastic beasts, and many other great things!and on you're part, you should have kept it going.aren't you like a gazillionare or something?why not do another 7 and become a,ummmmm

I think that JK wrote 7 great books that stormed the nation%2C and the rest of the world for that matter%2C and to be honest and more books would be overkill%21 OK so we have Harry and his kids%2C all I want to know from this is why Harry isn%27t rolling in the cash saying%2C %22Yeah%2C I killed Voldermort%2C I saved the world%2C big deal I do it every other day.%22 He%27s hiding and I personally think that JK rushed that ending%2C no offence%2C I still think you%27re the best author in the world%21 But still%2C a short story for World book day or comic relief or something would shut up the smarmy gits who think they%27re better than life by pissing all over JK%27s choice to write no more. I%27d stop writing if I was as rich as her%21

nicw article. i my self had the idea that maybe Harry's children and ron's children would group togethe. then find out about their fathers past and decide to take it apon them selves to hunt down death eaters on their own. maybe have one of the children go down the path of the dark arts.
just some ideas. i do hope she comes out with a new book soon.

I Read somewhere she said she may write an eighth book, but it'll be a prequel!
Here, you said that she will not keep harry the main person! that FITS!

it might be about life before harry was born!
    just a prediction!!

I think that if she does decide to do another book she should make one about harry's children and his friends children. Or, she should make a whole new series with all of there children going about adventures and things like that. and then have some new dark wizard come along and have all of harry and his friends children do things against him. just like harry, ron, and hermione did (along with all of the others.). I think that would definitely be the way to go. But no matter what, if she does write more books about this series i will read them no matter what story line she chooses.
