Possible Alien Life and Water Discovered on Another Planet

Could NASA Have Found a Planet in the Gliese 581 Solar System?

The Portland Journal
NASA has been planet studying on a major scale over the years and the discoveries are boundless. One such planet named Gliese 581g, a rocky alien world could have water on its surface '" and maybe an alien or two -- maybe!

There is also another planet named Gliese 581d that is causing a NASA buzz, and scientist are awaiting results from recent research, however some data has been released.

Gliese 581d revolves around a star (Gliese 581) that is roughly 30 percent of the mass of our own sun but is a whopping 20-light years away from the Earth '" not really that far away in cosmic terms.

Gliese 581d is turning the heads of scientist's as it is the first planet that has been found that has all the chemical makeup of a planet like our own.

Although not a whole lot is known about the rocky planet discovery, NASA tell us that Gliese 581d is well within the so-called '˜habitable zone' of its host star. Although it is assumed that the planet does have a thick carbon-dioxide-based atmosphere and is about seven times larger than the Earth.

The star Gliese 581 is actually a red dwarf , so far there have been 6 planetary discoveries around the star. But it is Gliese 581g that is really causing a stir as it is smack bang in the middle of the '˜habitable zone', it was discovered in 2007 and is cold enough and far enough to house possible life and have water on it's surface.

Gliese 581g could have life?

This is just speculation at the moment, but the hype surrounding the planet is stronger than any planet discovery in the past. NASA are carrying out a detailed analysis with the hope of making the leap to life discovery in the near future '" fingers crossed!

Cosmic Website Space.com wrote on there pages about Gliese 581d, quoting the team Laboratoire de M©trologie Dynamique (CNRS/UPMC/ENS/Ecole Polytechnique) at the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace in Paris, France, who have modeled research on the finds:

"When the team ran the model, they found that Gliese 581d probably can indeed host liquid water if it has a dense carbon dioxide atmosphere. Even though the planet is relatively far away from its dim red dwarf parent star, it could be warmed by a greenhouse effect, with daytime heat circulated around the planet by the atmosphere."
