1. Hilary Clinton is a name that often comes up when discussing who will be the vice presidential nominee. To many democrats, it would be a dream to see Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton on the same ticket. It would really unify the party; especially after all of the campaigning to become the democratic presidential nominee. Hilary Clinton would really rally up support from old school democrats, while Barack Obama rallies up young democrats in record numbers. They both have similar ideas on healthcare, education, and the war in Iraq. The only flaws that would prevent this match made in heaven are Hilary's likability factor and her ego. Hilary Clinton is a polarizing politician and I am not sure she is humble enough to settle for vice president.
2. Mike Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City, Would be an excellent running mate for Barack Obama as well. He shares Barack's "can do" attitude and optimism. He also has a likability factor that trumps Hilary Clinton. Bloomberg has plenty of experience as a politician and businessman and he would bring a lot to the table when discussing economic issues. Bloomberg would also rally up support from impendent voters. John McCain has a lot of support from independents, so this could be vital!
3. Al Gore and John Edwards would also make good vice presidential nominees. Al Gore would bring experience, along with the drive for change. Together they could really crack down on environmental issues. The only problem with this is that Al Gore will most likely not want to be vice president again after serving 8 years in the same position in the 1990's! John Edwards is very vice presidential and there is no bad blood between him and Obama. Edwards Ego gets in the way though, so he really isn't in the running at this point!
4. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland would also be an excellent choice for Barack Obama! Democrats are not going to win the election without the support of Ohio, and Strickland would be an excellent running mate. Strickland's only downfall would be the lack of name recognition.
5. Bill Richardson would also make an excellent vice president. He would give Barack Obama credibility in foreign policy. Richardson would also get the support from Hispanics, who could also play a major role in the election. He has plenty of experience as the New Mexico governor, along with being an ambassador for the United Nations. This would arguably be the most diverse pairing for the democratic ticket. The only downside of it all is that Richardson is a long time supporter of the Clintons. This wouldn't stop him though considering the fact that he has already endorsed Obama!
