Possible Ways to Remove the Glitchiness for Bejeweled Blitz Beta on Facebook

Tim Searles
If you're noticing some glitchiness while playing the beta version of Bejeweled Blitz, I'd recommend that you do one of four things:

1. Make sure you have the latest flash plugin for every browser you're playing the game in. There's a different plugin for Internet Explorer than there is for Firefox and Safari browsers. You'll have to go into each respective browser and download the appropriate plugin by going to Adobe's website. The specific website is located at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. The latest version is 10.0.32.18 for all browsers. The download is pretty small so it shouldn't take long to download and install into your browsers, even if you're still using a modem to connect to the Internet.

2. I'd also recommend downloading the Shockwave Plugin. Although it's not very integral to playing the game, it may work together with the Flash Plugin and help you to play the game more smoothly. You can download the Shockwave Plugin at http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/. The latest version is 11.5.1.601. Same rules apply here as they did for the Flash Plugin. You'll need to download different versions for Internet Explorer than you will for Firefox or Safari browsers.

3. If you've downloaded those plugins and you're still noticing some glitchiness I'd recommend cleaning out your temporary internet files, or clearing your cache before playing again. In Internet Explorer it's removing your temporary internet files, for Firefox or Safari it's emptying the cache. Sometimes those excess files that you don't use may be hogging up memory you need to play the game. Try this method if you have a lot of memory on your computer and have a good amount of video RAM.

4. If you're still running into problems after following the first three stages then what I'd recommend is letting Bejeweled Blitz know that you're experiencing glitchiness while playing the Beta version. Keep in mind that it IS a Beta version (which means that it's an initial version before the full release, so it could very well have some bugs in it).

It's important to let the creators of the game know about these issues because it will only help in creating a better final version of the game. Also, be patient as they're developing the game. You may just need to refresh your browser and play the game again. I've only seen this glitchiness minimally the times that I have played the game. I've also noticed that the countdown will be right in the middle of the playing board - which is distracting to say the least. Usually it glides down to the bottom of the screen to be out of the way, but not always. Be a little forgiving while they get the kinks out of the game; soon I'm sure we'll have a fully functioning version of Bejeweled Blitz that everyone can love.

  • Be sure to update your flash plugin before playing.
  • Consider clearing your internet browser cache if you run across any weirdness.
  • Remember it is a beta program and there may just be bugs in the game.
