This coming-of-age tale revolves around the unplanned pregnancy of a sixteen year old girl (Ellen Page) and the particular choice that she makes with her unborn child. Juno Mcgraff is a one of a kind character who has a growing relationship with Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera). Juno decides to find the perfect couple to take care of her infant. This independent masterpiece has a total of four academy award nominations under it's belt, all of which it deserves.
Constantly intelligent, funny, and unique. "Juno" is an off-beat comedy with an uncommon group of characters, each with their own crowning personalities. Independent films, like "Juno", usually get overlooked when it comes to a theater wide release. I appreciate as much as I enjoy every moment this film has to offer, from Juno Mcgruff's odd hamburger phone to her bizarre, colorful sox. Everything in the film was drawn out perfectly.
Ellen Page, who was neglected any awards for her role in "Hard Candy", finally gets appreciated for a more individual role. This is a role that takes a lot of heart and soul, a feat that Page pulls off with no complication. Michael Cera plays a loving and innocent character that fits perfectly for this witty and unfamiliar film. A very simple movie that grips you from the start. Director Jason Reitman works well with the cast and this extraordinary topic.
Everyone should see "Juno". Never will you see a film like this one, spinning you into a world of bright and mesmerizing individuals. A remarkable gem that will strike a cord with thousands of movie fans and film critics. Unforgettable and timeless monument of cinematic treasure. Possibly the best film of the year. 5/5 stars

Post a CommentTo the OP. You probably don't see a lot of Indie flicks do you? No self respecting movie lover would consider this possibly the best film of 2007. This movie was hardly considered intelligent humor in my opinion. The mess of one liners and stupid puns along with the god awful popculture references made me gag when I was watching this. THere are ton of better indie flicks out there that you should check out. 5 out of 5 stars is just funny. Seriously go watch a movie with SUbstance like THere will Be blood or No Country For Old Men and then come back and write about this felonious hack of a movie
Easily one of the best of 2007, at least top ten, but overall not Oscar material to me
I'm a bit worried that Juno, if it wins the Oscar, will get the Rocky effect. Rocky beat out more serious classics like Network, All the President's Men, and Taxi Driver- 30 years later, it's hailed as undeserving because it was heartwarming and sentimental, unlike those other films, and even hailed as the beginning of the Oscars downfall. If the lighthearted Juno beats out more "serious" and worshipped films like No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, I worry it'll suffer over time like Rocky did.
I of course meant Juno McGuff. Sorry for the mis-spellings.
