Administrator messages are messages that you can add to the front page or home page of your PostNuke site. When you installed PostNuke, there was a default administrator message on the front page. In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a new administrator message and how to delete your old one. I will also show you how to edit messages.
You will need to login to your administrator panel of PostNuke. Then you will need to click the System tab. In the system section, you will see the Administrator Messages icon. Click that icon to navigate to the administrator messages section.
How to Create a New Administrator Message in PostNuke
Click the Add Administrator Message link in the section that you are in. On the next page, you will see the fields you will need to fill in. Enter the title and the message. Click Yes to make the message active, in order words press yes so the message will be published. If you want the message to expire in a certain amount of days, enter the number of days in the Expiry field. If you do not want the message to expire, enter 0 in this field. Then select who can view the message. Drop the box down and make your selection. Then click the Add New Administrator Message button. That will create a new administrator message.
How to Edit an Administrator Message in PostNuke
Next, I will show you how to edit administrator messages in PostNuke. After you add your new message, you will be redirected back to the page with your messages. You will see a gray box with your messages. At the end of the message, you will see the Edit link. Click the Edit link at the end of the message you want to edit. On the next page, you can edit your message. Then click the Update Administrator Message button.
How to Delete Administrator Messages in PostNuke
Next, I will show you how to delete administrator messages in PostNuke. You should be on the page where you can view all of your administrator messages. At the end of the message title, you will see the Delete link. Click that link to delete the message. This is also how you delete the default PostNuke message on your front page. The title of the message should be "Welcome to PostNuke". Click the Delete link at the end of that message to delete it from your front page.
You can add as many messages as you want to your front page. This is a great way to keep your visitors up to date with what is going on.
