Potential Effects of the Health Care Reform Bill

Bruce Ziebarth
Last week the United States House of Representatives passed a Health Care Reform Bill. initial version of the Health Care Reform Bill were released for public comment; however, Nancy Polosi reversed her promise to provide a 72 hour review period on all bills. This makes it difficult to comment on the current Health Care Reform Bill. It is possible to look at earlier versions and discuss how this would affect me.

Health Care Reform Bill would force me to move to government health insurance. I realize that President Barack Obama promised that people would be able to choose which insurance plan they would like. President Barack Obama also stated that only people who needed it would be put on government health insurance. Ziebarth reported:

"This bill would create a Health Insurance Exchange that would force all private health insurance plans to compete with a public health option. This bill does not state (yet) how the rates would be set. I do see the potential for abuse. If a politician wanted to get rid of private health care plans, the potential is there. All that would need to happen is enact requirements that would make it impossible for private health care plans to compete. Once the plans disappeared, the public option would be the only choice."

Health Care Reform Bill has the potential to send the United States economy into a tailspin. Our economy is already in a fragile state. Under our current administration, the deficit is skyrocketing. Increased deficits devalues the American dollar. A weakened dollar increases prices, costs American families more money, and further damages the economy. Health Care Reform Bill would move thousands of people on to government insurance. Increasing the United States deficit.
