While authorities in Missouri are close-lipped with details, they have told the media that three pieces of evidence may have been found in the case of a missing 3-year-old girl. As of early Thursday, a KFVS local news report stated that one piece of possible physical evidence was found Tuesday evening, with two more items found Wednesday morning. The official announcement on the finding of potential evidence was made Wednesday: the same day community members in Senath held a candlelight vigil for Breeann Rodriguez and showed their support for her parents.
Authorities would not state what was found, only noting the items were not clothing or the bicycle Breeann was last seen riding Saturday when she disappeared from her Senath home. The news report from KFVS-12 stated that the pieces of evidence were found on a county road about two miles south of Breeann's home.
Authorities sent the items to a crime lab for analysis but the Senath Police chief would not say whether the items were or were not in fact connected to Breeann -- only that they are of interest to the investigation.
What the three items are and what they might possibly mean for the investigation into Breeann's disappearance is unknown; there is no word as yet on when more information will be forthcoming. At this point, authorities have had little to go on other than an announcement early in the week that they were looking for a white van that was reportedly seen in the area a few days before Breean disappeared.
Clues are thin and the trail is cold but local authorities are hopeful that perhaps this latest turn in the case -- potential evidence -- may put them back on the right track. Authorities and community members alike are holding out hope that Breeann is alive and will be found and returned safely to her parents.
The circumstances of the case to begin with are mysterious: Breeann was riding her bike with her 5-year-old brother in front of the Rodriguez house on Saturday. The brother went inside for a short time and, during that time, Breeann disappeared without a trace. The pink bicycle with training wheels she was riding was also gone and there was no indication of what had happened.
If the items found Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning turn out to be connected to Breeann, they could be enough to put investigators on the right path and hopefully lead them to an answer about what happened to the little girl. Hopefully they will head in the right direction and ultimately find her safe and sound.
