Potential NCAA March Madness Winners

"The Opera Ain't Over 'til the Fat Lady Sings!" - Dan Cook

(Disclaimer - this is not intended for anything other than humor, no teams have asked me to endorse them and no bookies either. The author is a football junkie who finds March Madness rather funny.)

I am no real big basketball fan, let alone college. My game is football. But since everyone else is throwing their two cents in about who will win, here are my division, semi-final and national champion picks.

In the Midwest division I am calling for the match up to be between Kansas and Ohio State. I am a big Buckeye fan when it comes to football, but I gotta go with my gut saying Kansas will win this one out.

In the West division, I am probably in the minority thinking these two teams will be there, but with the way these things work out, I could be right. I see Gonzaga going up against Pittsburgh, with Pittsburgh coming out victorious.

In the East division I think two personal favs from years gone by will be Temple versus Clemson. I am going to say that this is the year Temple will show a great game face and beat the tar out of Clemson, even though this will annoy my neighbors who will be rooting for Clemson.

in the South I have gotta say I really like the match up of Duke against Villanova. And even though I am originally from Philly (hence my belief in Temple), I think that Duke will squeak by in this contest. And yes, I know they are ranked much more favorably. But hey, this is all supposition from an avowed novice.

So in the Semi-Final rounds, I am seeing Duke winning out against Temple, maybe in overtime or something. Probably just wishful thinking that it would be that close, but I think it could be possible. And I am sure that Kansas will walk all over Pittsburgh.

And for the big cheese, the top banana spot, the whole ball of wax, I see the National title between Duke and Kansas being a battle back and forth tot he end. But eventually, Kansas will be the victor.

Go Jayhawks!! (Really, they didn't pay me to say that. Honestly. And no tickets were exchanged.)

But as I always say in my Op/Ed columns, this is just me, Thinking Out Loud!

Have a great day.

Charles

I think Kansas killed a lot of brackets... I know I didn't pick them... but I think Ohio State presses on... I'm an avid Washington Husky fan, and they are on a roll right now... When the Huskies aren't playing the Buckeyes... I have rooted for my share of buckeye victories in the Rosebowl against USC... They days of Archie Griffin and that sideline tackler Woody Hayes... In fact I saw a pretty cool special on ESPN about Woody and Bo (mich) and there relationship towards the end of their days... kind of cool... (just think if Obama pushes the health bill through... maybe you will have coverage for your march "MADNESS"... I think it is a legit disease!

AACKKKKKKK! Oh c'mon, Kansas! Sheesh, guess me and the Prez were both wrong on this. Hmmmmm, something to say here??

Charles...I am glad you wrote out the disclaimers... your basketball wizardry is only superceded by your love for Obama... (I filled out my first bracket for NCAA this year...and I pick them so carelessly that it would probably be illegal in several states... I will say this.... I think the March madness will pale in comparison to the show down on capital hill tomorrow... that has all the earmarks of a vote that they could follow in Vegas....
