WiMax is one of the new technological advancements that make your day to day functioning easier and smoother. WiMax serves as an alternative to the ADSL and Cable broad band connections by delivering wireless broadband access. WiMax is the abbreviation for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access.

WiMax has extensive capability to substitute various world communication infrastructures that are in use at present. It can substitute the telephone copper wire networks and cable TV coaxial cable infrastructure in fixed wireless area and in case of cellular networks it can substitute entire networks efficiently. The main factor here is the cost which is considerably reduced when compared to services like the Cable, ADSL and Fiber Optics.

Is WiMax Superior to Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi and WiMax are different entities. Wi-Fi is known for its excellent internet access but Wi Max is more effective when it comes to self installation, bandwidth, and coverage and power consumption. Moreover it can enable complete mobility and has greater encryption facility and more effective bandwidth. It is capable of linking two different networks without the use of wires or cables.

Wide Access of WiMax
The extensive bandwidth and magnitude of WiMax enables its use in a wide range of fields. It is an excellent substitute for ADSL and Cable broad band accessibility. It can also link two Wi-Fi areas with each other and also to the internet. In mobile communications too the WiMax provides high quality services. Both wireless broad band and mobile services work in a local loop when the WiMax is used.

Broadband Connectivity with Wi Max
In areas where the cable and telephone companies are not reachable, the WiMax can provide connectivity effortlessly. A total broadband connectivity is possible with WiMax. The WiMax service package has both indoor and outdoor versions. The indoor version needs the service station to be nearer but is convenient. It is identical to the usual ADSL or Cable versions. The outdoor model has wider access even when situated far away from the WiMax base station. Like ADSL, WiMax has a shared bandwidth option between users in a particular sphere where each one will get a bandwidth which is shared.

WiMax in Mobiles
In mobile networks too WiMax can be used effectively. The WiMax aerials have the capacity to share a cell tower without changing the present setting in the mobile network. In fact the cellular companies are contemplating the use of WiMax for increasing the bandwidth so that users can benefit from more data intensive services. This also cuts down the cost involved, making WiMax communications provide an affordable, decentralized form with easy installation.

Though WiMax is a new entrant it has the potential to become an integral part of communication systems replacing the existing forms for a more comfortable and convenient networking.
