Labor Day is often the final fun event of the summer. If you are planning a Labor Day BBQ or party, potluck ideas may make your planning easier. Here are two ideas for potlucks for Labor Day including recipes for a couple of popular potluck dishes.

Potluck Ideas for Labor Day Indoor Events
Indoor Labor Day potluck events at a local community hall, church or other large facility are excellent choices because they eliminate weather problems. Potluck ideas which work well with indoor events include those where the attendees need power sources for their crockpots. Depending on the venue you choose, your potluck theme ideas may include items which require a stove. Indoor Potluck ideas might include the following:

Potluck Casseroles for Labor Day - Have attendees each bring casseroles which can be kept warm in the oven, in a crockpot or perhaps served cold. One of the favorite potluck dishes for my family is Hash brown Casserole. This has always been one of the most popular potluck dishes at every Labor Day BBQ, I have attended

Hash Brown Casserole Recipe for Your Labor Day Potluck
1 2lb. bag shredded hash brown potatoes
1 can cream of Chicken soup
1 8 oz. sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar
salt and pepper to taste
1 stick butter
potato chips or buttered crackers, crushed

For this potluck dish you need to thaw your hash browns ahead of time. Mix the hash browns, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, salt and pepper. Place in a 9X13 glass casserole dish. Dot with butter and then sprinkle crushed chips or buttered crackers on top. Bake at 350°F for about 50-55 minutes. When this Potluck casserole is out of the over, cool slightly then cover in foil. Reheat if needed when you get to the Labor Day potluck.

Potluck Ideas for Labor Day BBQs at Home
If you are considering a Labor Day BBQ at home, you may still use potluck ideas for the party. It is much easier to host an at home event if part of the food is being prepared by others. Potluck ideas for the home Labor Day BBQ, can include use of your stove, the home grills, and you'll have electricity to use crockpots or roaster ovens. While the outdoor grill takes care of the meats, consider coordinating ideas for potluck side dishes to complement the grilled items. If you are having a hamburger and hot dog BBQ, you might divide potluck casseroles among your guests so you don't have six potato salads and no baked bean casseroles. Potluck recipes which require refrigeration can also be used at a Labor Day BBQ at home. Consider the following Labor Day potluck recipe for your at home BBQ

Labor Day Potluck Recipes: Orange Sherbet Salad

1 large package orange jello
2cups. water
1 pint orange sherbet ice cream
12 oz. cool whip
9 oz. crushed pineapple (well drained)
2 sm. cans mandarin oranges
Boil water and add to jello in a large bowl. Stir until dissolved. Add orange sherbet, stir until melted. Chill for about 30 minutes, the mixture should be thick but not firm. Stir in cool whip, pineapple and oranges. Refrigerate overnight.

Using potluck ideas to plan your Labor Day BBQ will make hosting the event easier and give you the chance to enjoy the party with your guests. Potluck recipes are plentiful and the variety helps to make every event unique.
