Business Suits or Sharkskins, Behavior Patterns the Same

Most sharks associated with the Potomac are found on the eastern shore of the river between the Anacostia tributary and Georgetown in the District of Columbia. They mostly wear business suits, but sometimes get in trouble when caught in their birthday suits. But on August 31st Willy Dean caught a naked 8 foot bull shark in the Potomac three miles north of the river's mouth where it empties into the Chesapeake Bay at Point Lookout in St. Mary's County. Like the sharks of DC bull sharks are voracious predators without conscience or scruple.

The red faced shark pictured on nbcwashington.com looks eerily reminiscent of a bulbous nosed politico on the tail end of a bender funded by a lobby shark. No matter how polluted, or how much reform of the environment is promised, the sharks of the Potomac survive and thrive in the river and on shore. Shallow creatures that they are it's the shallows that are their preferred hunting arena. Willy Dean knows what to do with a caught shark. He has it in the cooler for later mounting, at least the head. Are we taking notes?
