Idly waiting for skilled hands.
Hands that know how to cook
Something yummy from a book.
Pans and pots will wait awhile
Mourning for that cooking style.
This long ago forgotten skill
Now replaced by the grill.
Indoor grills and microwaves
Send pots and pans to their graves.
Kitchens once were filled with laughter
Building memories for ever-after.
Now the kitchen shelves are bare
Family doesn't gather there.
Food is fast and made to go
Speedy lifestyles make it so.
No longer need to keep the book
Gone the era of the cook.
In the kitchen no pots and pans
No happy family no skilled hands.
