Potty Training Your Puppy

Having a new puppy in your house could be a great experience. A new puppy will provide you with loads of affection and love, but it can also be frustrating to both parts at the time of waste disposal. You need to make sure that your puppy is comfortable in its new surroundings; sometimes puppies will not poop if they are not comfortable and this can cause health problems in the long run.

To be sure that your new puppy is a healthy you have to schedule a regular time in which they will make their necessities. This can be hard to puppy because being away from their mom can be confusing, and they will not receive the proper training they would receive from their mom. First you need to observe their regular habits. Determine at what time they usually poop, whether it is in the morning, in the afternoon or a night, and then schedule a time to train it that is consistent with the puppy's natural habits, this would ensure that the training will be easier to learn for your puppies, and less frustrating to you.

You need to know how you're going to proceed with your training. Many owners find out their puppies have never been trained nor are used to it. So the most effective way to start a new puppy in training is to do what is called leash training, prior to potty training. Using leash training you are going to have more control over your dog and you can teach it where and when to poop. It will be good to include voice commands when you're leash training your dog. Use words like "poop", "potty" or "go poo-poo" so your dog can relate them to the action of pooping.

Be sure reward your dog whenever it does something good. You can give encouraging words or food treats, this way your dog will know that the action is desired by its master. Be consistent with your commands and rewards and your dogs learning curve which be much shorter

If your dog is going to stay inside, it is important that it feels welcomed. A dog that doesn't feel like it belongs can turn out confused and develop behavior and health problems which can lead to a shorter life expectancy for the dog and a lower quality of life for both you and the dog. You have to be patient and don't try to rush your dog. Give it some time and stick to a schedule. By doing so, your dog will feel more comfortable and in better synchrony with you and your home.

Potty training could seem tiresome at times but it is worth it. Your new dog as well as you will be happier and healthier, and once a good habit is acquired it is hard to break.
