Poverty Not Allowed

The plush mall concierge

Indulged my extravagance

Shooed off hollow eyes

I came out of the shopping mall; the security helped me with the buys, making way with fake smiles. I saw two eager teenagers smelling of absolute penury trying to get hold of the crystal clear glass door, exploring the world of packaging and profligacy. I saw the keeper blocking them ruthlessly at the gate. Innocence died in the hands of affluence! And my shopping expedition had the most pathetic end that day.

In some ways this reminds me of Emily Dickinson's poem I Had Been Hungry.

You are such a deep person, it's sad you had to experience this.

Very nicely written but certainly not a justifiable outcome.
