Powell's Sweet Shoppe is a floor to ceiling haven of candy, and treats for every age of kid. They have all of the popular sour candies that kids nowadays love, but they also carry hard to find items from decades ago. There are very few places left in the United States that offer just about every kind of commercial candy invented over the last century.
The first Powels Sweet Shoppe opened just seven years ago in another Northern California town. Windsor, California was the original home of Powell's Sweet Shoppe in 2003 opened by founder, Michael Powell. Powell believes in "the old-fashioned retail model where you get to know your customers, learn their names and carry their favorite candies," according to Powell's Sweet Shoppe. It is this kind of commitment to his customer that has made Powell's Sweet Shoppe not only a success in Windsor, but also in seventeen other locations including Los Gatos.
When you first walk in to the candy store, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices, about 5000 in all. There are also fun add-ons such as Candy Land Games, pinwheels, stuffed toys, novelty items, and cartoon lunch pails. Another option, if candy isn't your thing, is the well-stocked gelato bar with the most decadent gelato treats from chocolate to strawberry.
Powell's Sweet Shoppe is located on the main street in Los Gatos, making it convenient to add a trip to Powell's for a sweet treat whenever you are in town.
