Power of Bullying

Stop Bullying Now!

Ranee Wright
Why must you jeer and tease?
Form cliques and harass
make judgments and exclusions
Tear me down to feed your power trip
spew opinions and label.

"Maybe I'll stop if you say, please,"
the bully sneers and goes back to class.
Powerful word contusions
Finally triggered my switch to flip
rendering me unstable.

Tormenting and harsh unnecessary denigration
Plague our nation.

Bullying is not exclusive to school
even at work you encounter this fool.

You cannot escape elementary swirlies
by ignoring or keeping quiet about bullies.

The best way to stop being targeted prey
is to tell someone about it today.

If you witness lewd behavior - do everyone a favor
before the taunting becomes haunting
Take a stand - by extending your hand!

Great job! I can remember when I was little and learning to stand up to the bully in our neighborhood. I raised my kids to stand up to bullies, too, especially when those bullies were attacking other children weaker than themselves.

I agree. Ignoring a bully is the worst thing to do. I learnt it the hard way. Great article :).

Bullying starts so young now! A lot of kids start small and then get worse as they get older.

I was a victim of bullying when I was a kid and at that time the prevailing wisdom was to 'ignore' the person and they would stop. I can tell everyone that this is bad advice. I am not promoting violence but bullying is nothing that a good karate class can't solve. Thanks

Nice to see this one - taking a stand against bullying!

Bullying was the reason why middle school was such a difficult time in my life. I was an overweight kid, blond hair, blue eyes, and big glasses. Yeah, I was pretty much a target for the typical bullying crowd. It's something that you don't recover from easily. And even now I constantly worry about what people think of me and have an extreme desire to be accepted. It did make me a stronger person, but I have no idea how my life would be if someone had extended their hand.

I've known many bullies, as a child and as an adult. They torment everybody around them and they perceive their behavior as empowering, so it's difficult to get them to stop. Reaching out a hand to the recipient of their attacks is a great idea.

We usually only associate bullies with children, but bullying definitely happens to adults too. Great message!

I'm with Jeff. It's so cool when another person stands up in your defense. Been there alone and it's not fun. Good article.

Nothing worse than a bully! Cheers on this.
