Power of a Praying Life

Natasha Stiller
Prayer is meant to be part of the deepest throes of our relationship with our Lord and Savior. Do your prayers resemble this statement? I was feeling quite inadequate, so when I came upon the book written by Stormie Omartian, by the same title, I was jumping at the opportunity to make my prayer life more intentional.

I've read other books of hers and enjoy her down-to-earth style of writing, her no nonsense approach, and her get it done attitude. There's nothing more intimate than praying and in this text, Stormie hashes out why individuals don't pray. These ranged from not knowing how to pray, feeling inadequate or undeserving.

We were all beautifully and wonderfully made. Because God knows how many precious hairs are on our head we can step back and consider that we are definitely worthy to pray and have our words heard. Not all prayers will be answered, but we definitely deserve to speak.

Stormie's book follows a model of how to be a successful Christian and have true success in our lives through our connection with God, through our prayer life, and through our walk as Christ followers. She approaches difficult issues such as difficult relationships, marriage, strongholds, the importance of worship, recognizing your purpose, putting your hope in the Lord, dealing with negative emotions, and treating your body like a temple. While these aren't all of the topics of the chapter, these are a great many that highlight the work you will be doing if you read the book.

I also highly suggest that you get the accompanying journal which will take you through the bible scriptures with questions and provides opportunity for you to take notes.

In this study, I participated with a group of ladies that made this experience more real. We could share our struggles, our motivations, and where we just fell flat on our face in the midst of our attempts to be Christ followers. The book is incredible for young Christians or old. It is a great read that focuses on making your prayer life intentional, filled with purpose, and in the end you will have a closer relationship with God.

Well said! Hadn't considered the journal, or a study group on this one, but will now! Thanks!
