Instead of giving your Grand-Parents a Christmas ornament that they can't use for another year or a new picture of your family . NOTE:pictures of your family should not be given to them as a "gift".

Give them a gift that they can actually use.

Practical gifts for Grand-ma

A gift basket

Fix your Grand-ma a lovely basket filled with her favorite little things. Such as, a pretty Pendant ,Bracelet, Lotion, wallet, compact umbrella, cookies, fruit etc... Tie a pretty bow for the top of the basket.

A warm gown & or house-coat

When you get older, with declining health and medications your body temperature is lower than normal. A warm house-coat and gown is a really nice gift

Grand-ma will be able to put these gifts to use.. But, what about Grand-Pa? Here are some great things for him.

Practical gifts for Grand-pa

A fishing rod & reel or golf club & golf balls

Is Grand-pa a sportsman kind of guy? This is a great gift for your grand-pa to enjoy through out the year.

A gift basket

You can fix up Grand-Pa a basket too! He would love a new heating pad, year-prescription paid - tv-guide magazine , bed room slippers etc... you can use your imagination and make this a great gift for him...

These are some great gifts for Grand-Pa. But, what about the Grand-Parents that have physical limitations?

Here are some great things for them

Giant Print Bible

You can buy Bibles and Hymnals in giant print. Print is in any version and in several different languages at this web address www.allbibles.com or you can find the Giant Print Bibles at your local wal-mart or Christian Book stores.Note:a nice Bible Cover is great too!

Talking Calculators, Large print phones, Large print calendars etc

The new technology is amazing! Now, just because you have severe arthritis or poor vision due to glaucoma , macular degeneration or some other typeof vision problem. You can do anything "with a little help" just about as good as before! at this address www.seniorstore.com you can even get a check writing low vision template guide there too.

Offer your services for a week

If you really don't have any money for a nice little gift. Why not offer your services for a week? Things such as cooking, cleaning the house, washing their car, doing yard work etc... I know that they will really appreciate this gift very much!

Sometimes Grandparents are kind of put on a back burner so to speak.

Show them how much you appreciate them this Christmas!

  • Practical gifts are the best
  • Don't buy a present to just sit on a shelf

It is best to give them the Just5 cell phone. It is something that will help them during emergency situations as it has PERS features that can be accessed in just a press of a button. The phone is also perfect for their age because it has large buttons, bright display, amplified sound, and long lasting battery. Check this phone here: www.just5.com.

Oh yes, I forgot to say how much I loved the part about you giving Bible and Hymnals as a gift in big print. Clever and ingenious tip! :) Great job and loved it even more on the second read. You are so spiritual and I love that!!!!!

As I Grandma, I certainly think gifts for Grandmas are a good idea! I'll bet many who are on tight Social Security incomes would really appreciate a gift card to the local supermarket or Target to pick up some of those little extras that don't fit in the budget, too.

Cathie: I love to make gift baskets also. I've been doing it for many years, and I think it is exciting to have lots of special gifts (much like stocking stuffers). We all love surprises! Great suggestions! :)

A bit hard for my grandchildren living in England.

Even though I will be 60 next year I still run, walk, swim, aerobics, jog, play tennis, table tennis, and think I am the fitest I have ever been. Not ready for the slippers yet :)

My favorite gift from them was a Cadbury Advent Calendar. We have been opening them together, well them in England and me in the states but we have enjoyed that chocolate.
