This year is a little tougher than Christmas past. With the loss of so many jobs and businesses there just isn't enough money to do it all, so we try to simplify our celebration and bring back the spirit of Christmas as well as the spirit of survival from another time. You try to save, create and plan so you don't over spend.
This trend is happening all over the country.
So what about the after Christmas sales? Will there be enough money left over to make purchases? Many people are saving back to make purchases during this time of lower prices and perhaps the last time we will ever see prices drop this low again in history. Looking for the good deal will also mean looking to make the correct purchase for your life and future. Most of all remember to not over spend.
This will be a great time to buy any left over Christmas decorations. To choose wisely within a budget you will need to set a few rules. First choose a color theme. This makes the purchases easier and you are less likely to buy something because it is pretty with no idea if it will match and be a huge waste of the precious paycheck now so guarded. Once you have chosen a color theme decide what you need or what you would like. Christmas decorations, a Christmas table cloth, welcome mat, wrapping paper and maybe a wreath for next year. Lights are always cheap and you really don't need to purchase more.
Check out clothes that are being marked down. Buy clothes right for the weather in your area with a holiday theme so they can be worn at any time during the year. This is a great time to buy coats, boots, sweaters and sleepwear. Stock up on a few holiday items you can wear year round like discounted Christmas socks, night gowns and scarves for the colder weather.
Now is the time to pad your pantry with marked down holiday foods. Gift packages such as cocoa's, coffee and meats. They will make a great snack for the new year and on Super Bowl Sunday if you are having a get together. If ham and turkey are on sale then buy and freeze for later. Christmas cookies, cakes and other decorated items will go on sale too so make your purchase of sweets. Your family is not going to care if they are eating a great tasting Santa cookie after the holidays.
Gift items such as blankets, perfumes, books, crafts kits and theme holiday items will hit rock bottom prices. You can use them throughout the year or you can save a few back for next Christmas when there might not even be a dollar anywhere for gifts.
