The proportion of practice to play for a great performer is always 40-50 to 1. To live the life you want, you have to practice every day. We all know the proverb, 'practice makes a man perfect'. This was relevant long time ago. In present days, it needs to be modified to: 'only perfect practice makes a man perfect'. For example, a bad golf swing practiced regularly will produce a bad gold swing. Whereas a perfect golf swing practiced regularly will get you closes to par. Not to engage in perfect practice will set you up to lose in the competition.
Constant forward progress and constant sharpening of skills will give a person increased confidence in anything he or she does. The best way to go forward is to go forward and not to retreat. You cannot afford to be stagnant. The dictum goes, "constantly flowing water gathers no moss. It has no time to do so."
Similarly, to play at a higher level requires better execution than you are currently delivering. You cannot afford to enter the game just hoping to win. You have to enter the game prepared to win. The more you win, the greater your opportunity to develop a winning mindset. This mindset sets you up to win again and again. Any salesman will tell you the best time to make the next sales call is on the heels of a successful sales call.
For any person, it is a problem to get off the ground. It is a fact that one has to use most of his energy to beat the inertia to get off the launching pad. For this initial blast, one needs to be physically, financially, socially, rationally and spiritually fit. One requires all he has got to get to where he needs to go. When he makes a strong take off, he will discover that he will need less fuel and energy to maintain the desired course. It is the law of physics and it is also the law of life.
When your attitude is right and you unleash your best energy, it is then time to focus. There is a vast difference between having energy and having focus. Many people may have a positive attitude but without the required focus, they will be no where close to tapping their potential.
Once your energy and focus are in place, it is time to set your goal. The essential element of effective goal setting is to align yourself with God so that your plans are in concert with His. The secret of knowing His will for your life is to realize that you are living in it every day. Whether you are doing what He wants you to do or not, it is still His will.
