Have We Gone Too Far for God to Bless Us?
Back in September of 2008 I mused that, "I would never have believed that our 2 political parties would turn into a choice of Communist or Socialist." Each time I hear a news broadcast, that statement (as questionable as I thought it was, even for me) comes back to haunt me.
John McCain kept using the term, "My Friends". Every time I heard that I thoughtk, "My Comrades". I know, I know what you thinking. "Come on John, you're being ridiculous. It's not that bad." That's just the point. I don't want to believe that America is in fact no longer the "land of the free". But I fear that we have gone too far down this road already. Even if we, the citizens, of this once healthy country stood up now and took decisive action to turn toward true liberty, we wouldn't see any results. Our children possibly, our grandchildren maybe.
How many of your progeny do you know really understand what "Liberty" as compared to "freedom" really means? Our constitution calls us a "Republic". Does anyone "serving" in government really know the difference between a republic and a democracy? We have given the education of our children over to the government even further back than my education. Now we shall live with the consequences. The "Government" is now not only our teacher, but our ruler.
Every great society in history failed from problems within itself. I'm afraid we are the same. It brings tears to my eyes to realize I am living to see my beloved America dying from a cancer that is malignant and spreading faster than we can even recognize. And I, along with the majority of my generation, has either pushed it along or unwittingly helped it along. We have done this by demanding our rights while abandoning our responsibilities. Some of us by choice, some by ignorance. God help us.
Pray. That's what we must do. Pray for forgiveness, pray for guidance, pray for courage.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and wil heal their land.
