Forty days to
prepare for new birth
What questions to ask
Where to begin
What to strive for
Jesus I ask
only to empty
myself of whatever keeps me from you
Knowing I am human
and have an ego
that sometimes is over active
I open all
of me to you
Nothing hidden
Smiling to myself
as I say those words
As if I could hide from you anyway
Even though I
am sure sometimes
I try
May these forty days
in the desert lead
me to you
May we take this
walk together and
renew my baptism vows with overwhelming joy!
