Prayer for Mercy at the yet Unoccupied Grave Plot of the Mandel Family

Shirley A Mandel
I approach the brand new headstone
and reach down to touch
my own name etched in stone
to see if it is real,

it is all too real.

My own mortality is etched in stone.

Lord,
have mercy on me
and this broken family.

In Christ's Name
Amen

I don't want to see where the end of my road is, in advance.

Shirley, After my brain surgery and near-death, I went up to the cemetery and bought a plot with my parents (and my husband). None of us are there yet, but we all know when we step from this earth, we step into eternity :) The grave will house our bodies but our souls will be with Him in heaven. cheers
