Many Christians are wailing and groaning that they don't get their prayers answered. Most of these Christians do turn to the powerful preachers to get connected to heaven, so that what they want from God may be availed to them through these intercessors. But since the bible clearly calls all who have faith to call upon God in the name of Jesus, there must be something wrong in those whose prayers are never answered. A study of prayer verses reveal about seven requirements for an answered prayer which we want to take a closer look at, then afterwards you should see to yourself if your prayers are in the categories mentioned.
1. The bible vividly calls all who pray to pray according to the will of God. The question here will be what the will of God is. There are some situations in which it would be difficult to know exactly the will of God; for example, we do understand that naturally this life leads to death and you have a sick friend that you don't want to die therefore you pray for him/her to recover, but maybe it is the will of God that such a person dies. But in some cases, knowing the will of God will not be question like praying for a friend of yours to get salvation or praying that your poor neighbor gets his daily bread. Do you understand the will of God in the situation that led you to prayer?
2. "Without faith it is impossible to please God" Hebrews 11: 6 is a well known verse in the bible. Faith is basically trusting that what God has said he will do, he will do. If he says that he will take care of you so long as you walk according to his will, he will. Faith is not an emotional feeling and satisfaction that your lengthened prayer has been answered, neither is it your mental perception that you have uttered the right combination of words, but is the relying upon the sure word of God that what he says is true, or other things variable. When you pray according to the will of God, have faith (or honest trust) that he has heard your prayer and that he has given his signature on that prayer. The outcome of your prayer now depends on the attributes of God towards such a prayer.
3. Another point that we are called upon when praying is our attitude. When studying the books of Ephesians and Colossians, we see that attitude in prayer is emphasized. This attitude has its effects in our inner most desire in the fulfillment of our prayer request. Ok well, you are praying for car and a decent house, but is it because you want to look elevated than your non-Christian enemy or do you actually need these things?
4. Praying for others is an important aspect to develop your potential of having most of the prayers you utter answered. In any essence, whenever you pray well for any other person other than yourself, and that that other person or the kind of prayer will not act in any wise to your own good, then that prayer will be answered more preferably. One of the basic characters of God is his will that nature share to the mutual benefit of its existence. When therefore you put other people before you, then you will be praying according to the will of God.
5. We are created in the image of God and one such image is our inability to give things to those who break our own rules or even do not recognize them. As a person you will not want to associate with an arrogant person who constantly disregards your personality and preferences, and so is our God. Don't expect answers from God if your lifestyle does not or otherwise thrive to conform to the standards he has set.
6. Cultivate a culture of constant communion with God at all times. Again, as much as you would appreciate a friend who is always by your side at times of happiness and times of sorrow, so will God appreciate your constant presence before him; to worship and praise him, talk to him, thank him, and share with him your joys and sorrows. It is in this kind of communion that your perception of God's will increase and get nurtured. Basically, strive to be the best friend of God, or otherwise, make God your best friend.
7. Lastly, though all these points are intertwined, ask God to forgive and cleanse you so that you are acceptable before him. A clean heart is what God desires which will mean humility and honesty before God. Forgiveness, as others might tend to ask from God, is something that you are not supposed to demand, but whenever you request God to forgive you will all sincere be assured that your prayers will be accepted.
On well nurtured prayer life, when the bible criteria for prayer acceptability are fathomed, then you won't be surprised that "please God let this mountain move from here" is instantly answered!
