Pre-Teens and Teens Need to Have Lines Drawn

Alec Baldwin Yelling at His 11 Year Old Daughter on Voicemail May Be Justified

The world is full of spoiled pre-teens and teenagers who curse their parents, run away and break laws. When these children cause pains in society everyone usually asks where was the parents? But when parents lay down the law and show they are not a pushover, as with what I believe Alec Baldwin was doing when he told his daughter he was going to "set her straight" over a leaked voicemail to her, the media want to make them out to be monsters.

Alec Baldwin's daughter, Ireland was obviously being disobedient by not answering his call and no one knows what type of child she is and how she acts toward her father who loves her behind closed doors. I do know that most children who grow up in wealthy families usually have rich and/or famous parents who don't care enough to try and discipline them properly. The result is the Paris Hiltons, Lindsay Lohans, and Britney Spears of the world. Not to mention the even worse undisciplined children that break laws and shoot up schools.

So why are we scoffing and shaking our finger at Alec Baldwin? Okay so he shouldn't have resorted to name calling by calling his daughter a thoughtless pig and he should've watched his language but how effective his call would've been if he whispered a bunch of please and thank yous? Parents in this world are trying so hard to be their child's friend that they forget they are supposed to be the enforcer. They are required to lay down the law and take nothing less then obedience. Alec is obviously not taking the easy way out in involving himself in a battle for custody from his ex-wife Kim Basinger he instead desires a relationship with his daughter and wants her to grow up being a decent young lady who has respect for authority.

Once the tape leaked Alec Baldwin apologized on his website stating, "Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened."

I have children and I have lost my temper and said some things that I didn't mean, which I have taken back. But I never apologize for being strict and requiring my children to be reverent and civil and decent in this otherwise crazy world.
