Precious Moments

Known or Believed? Experienced or Wished?

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

Recalling precious moments
Both recent and long ago,
It is hard to sort
What I believe
From what I think I know.

In the hard drive of the mind
Partitions are not firm
And we often can confuse
What we have mastered
With what we need to learn.

With memory and wishes
Inseparably entwined,
In the deep halls of memory,
Forever enshrined.

Oh man, this is extremely powerful. It leads me to think more about what my hard drive is doing. I know for certain that many memories are mixed with thoughts and confuse the past for me.

Yes, I wonder how many of my "memories" really happened the way I think they did.

Thanks for sharing. "...the mind partitions are not firm." I might have taken a story from my grandpa about my childhood and visualized the story into a memory.
