Prediction of Winners Award: Job, Ruth, and Daniel - Best Selling Books Turn Out Three Academy Award Movies

These Three Books Have the Potential for Becoming the Next Movies for Best Movie Award

Laura Wrede
When we consider top selling books, especially ones that translate into a great movie worthy of an Academy Award, we often look to best sellers for possible candidates. There are certain components of the storyline that are also important; they must have things such as action, love, mystery, redemption, victory, or a good vs. evil plot.

The number one selling book of all time offers all of these components and has sold 6 billion copies according to Comcast.net. The book I am referring to is actually a collection of books, letters, and other kinds of literature. It is the Bible. Bible movies make award winning movies if they are done well and stay true to the story.

In the Bible there are many pieces of literature combined together (66 pieces in all) that each have the possibility of making block buster movies. The first to consider is the Book of Job. Here we see a man who rises to fame and fortune, only to lose everything including his own health. In the end, we see him as the underdog who wrestles with God and eventually has all of his wealth restored.

The cast for the Book of Job would parallel well with the cast from Bruce Almighty. Jim Carey plays Job, who has the ability to display an incredible range of emotions. Jobs first wife, played by Jennifer Anniston and his second wife played by Cate Blanchette. Tom Shadyac would of course be the perfect director in keeping with the same tone as Bruce Almighty.

The second potential block buster would be the Book of Ruth. The storyline once again shows an individual, a woman this time, Naomi, who has everything only to lose it. Just when all seems lost, Naomi's life is redeemed because her daughter-in-law didn't abandon her. Instead she married a man named Boaz which provided a "kinsmen redeemer" for Naomi. The cast would include Meryl Streep as Naomi, and Liv Tyler as Ruth. Boaz would be a good role for Orlando Bloom. The best director/producer for this movie would be Ron Howard. His insight into the human drama would bring this movie to the height of emotion it deserves.

The third book is the Book of Daniel. In this book, the main character, Daniel, is taken into the service of the king at a very young age. This movie would be an epic adventure requiring many special effects, therefore either George Lucas or Steven Spielberg would be the primary picks for producer.

Daniel has three friends who have exciting adventures while they are all working for the king. It is a book of mystery, love, war, and action. The role of the king would be well played by Viggo Peter Mortensen, Jr. who has the intense mannerisms of a king as we saw in Lord of the Rings. Aric Sony has the perfect look for Daniel. His three friends would be Wesley Barry, Adam Tucker, and Austin Kearney.

Each film has the potential for being a blockbuster Academy Award winning movie. Each story would work well written in the original time period, or translating to a current modern story.

The Bible is full of adventure, love, action, war, peace, redemption...it covers the entire spectrum of the human experience. The Book of Job, The Book of Ruth, and The Book of Daniel are just three off many works of literature in the Bible that have award winning potential.

The Bible contains within, not only great award winning individual stories, but it also the greatest story ever told...but that movie has already been produced.
