Josie Duggar, the preemie daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle, Duggar is up to 5 lbs and 14 oz. but remains in Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Doctors say she is gaining an average of 2 ounces a day but needs an enema every six hours. "She loves to eat,", Michelle Duggar told People Magazine. "When she looks good she feels good. She looks at you and smiles and talks." Josie Duggar was born weighing only 1 pound and 6 ounces on December 10, 2009 by emergency C-section at 25 weeks. Her original due date was March 18, 2010. Michelle had complications that prompted the early arrival.

Josie experienced a perforated bowel since birth. She was released on April 6th only to return to the hospital two days later. Vital signs dropped because of serious constipation problems. Dad Jim Bob stated " It was nice to have the whole family together for a short time. She only weighed around 4 ½ oz or so when we brought her home so she was still very fragile." Doctors at Arkansas Children's Hospital are closely watching her and putting her through a battery of test including eye tests, brain tests, and ear tests. The cause of Josie's digestive trouble has yet to be determined by the competent medical staff. All are hopeful about her recovery .

The Duggar family moved 300 miles from their home in Tontitown, Arkansas to be closer to the medical team. Until a permanent solution for the trouble is found, Josie will remain in Arkansas Children's Hospital for a little while longer. The older sons, Jon-David and Joseph stay behind in Tontitown to take care of the 7000 sq foot home and the Duggar's many rental properties. The older daughters mind the other siblings while Jim Bob and Michele stay with Josie. The parents brag about how wonderful the kids have been through this trying time for the family. "Teamwork!" exclaims Michelle. Josie Duggar has seventeen other siblings at home ranging in age from one year to twenty. Josh Duggar ,21, lives with wife Anna also 21 in Springdale with daughter Mackenzie.

The Duggars are featured in TLC's "19 Kids and Counting". Josie's homecoming will be the theme for a special episode on May 9th, 2010 and her set back will be featured in May 11th episode. The birth of Josie sparked much debate worldwide. In spite of the situation, the Duggars say they are open to more kids. They belong to a conservative faith that shuns all birth control and believe each child is a blessing and gift from God. When asked will they have any more kids, Michelle Duggar responds saying the focus will be on Josie this year. Fans from all walks of life are wishing Josie a speedy recovery.

This was an interesting article on Baby Josie. I hadn't heard anything on how she was doing lately. Thanks for the update.
