Pregnancy is Beautiful

Proof is in the Hormones

Pregnancy often conjures up unromantic visions of a woman with a watermelon sized abdomen. Too often, the beauty of pregnancy is ignored. Some may think it strange that I equate pregnancy with being beautiful, but a few examples will serve to defend my point.

Enhanced Figure

When I was pregnant, I tried to figure out why all involved concentrated on the size and girth of my belly. Other parts of my anatomy also grew. For purposes of proving my point, we will ignore the fact that my nose also grew! Never in my life did I have ample breasts, at least until pregnancy. I was always a 32 A, if an A cup at all. Although my husband never complained, I knew that secretly men wished for a women more endowed than I was. After I got over my breasts hurting anytime they came within a centimeter of an object, hand or garment, I realized that they had began to change. By midway through my pregnancy, I had to make a trip for a new bra size. By the time 'junior' arrived, I was in a 34 B. The good news is, after giving birth my size remained. Rest assured, I have never complained about this added benefit of being pregnant.

On the lower end of things, my 'hinny' also grew. My husband said he was very happy, but jokingly stated he thought I was carrying half of the baby there. Although he appeared quit pleased, I was not. That is one area of my anatomy that was not lacking to start with. I have often wondered if women that are less endowed, retain their new' size' once they have given birth. The fact of the matter is, I had to increase my pants size, and it wasn't because of my tummy! I am sure any women who didn't have a noticeable butt to start with, would be ecstatic about this development.

What to expect.com states that pregnancy curves are a direct result of several factors. Progesterone starts pumping, the main pregnancy hormone, sends the body messages while pregnant. One of those is to conserve weight, in case Mom forgets to e at. This sometimes results in added curves and weight. Most women lose the excess weight and return to ' pre' pregnancy figures. Others of us, never lose all the curves. If you are like me, a few added curves are appreciated!

Healthy Skin

What woman does not want clearer skin? After countless tries at finding the right acne medication, I discovered that pregnancy was the perfect cure. At first, when my body was getting use to the new level of hormones, a few more bumps appeared. After a few months, my skin was as clear as a baby's butt! (No pun intended!) I am sure most everyone has heard a pregnant women receive compliments about her glowing skin. My skin was its healthiest during my pregnancy. While my skin lost its pregnancy glow, the acne never returned. Pregnancy might prove to be a drastic measure for acne removal, but if you are planning to be with child anyway, pregnancy proved to be the cure, at least for me.

The new healthier skin and glow are a direct result of 50 percent more blood volume in the face and body. More blood, results in a rosier complexion. Also, circulation is at its peek during pregnancy, so baby will get enough nutrients and oxygen. Improved circulation in the face results in shinier skin that appears as the ' pregnancy' glow.

Ask any father to be what he thinks of his pregnant wife and fat and ugly won't be in his vocabulary. Most men agree that being with child is a beautiful time in a woman's life. Maybe the day will come when us women feel the same.
