Pregnant Man Story Sweeping Nation

Everyone is talking about the first pregnant man in America. He has graced the pages of People magazine as well an hour interview with Oprah on her talk show. My recap is taken his interview with Oprah on her talk show.

The first question in everyone's mind was, how is this humanly possible for a man to be pregnant? This individual who seem to be using only his first name was born a female whom her parents named Tracey. She was the middle child amidst an older and younger brother. As a child she remembered a normal childhood never once feeling like she was trapped in the wrong body. However, she lost her mother at the tender age of twelve and did not have the opportunity to share moments with her ,such as puberty, especially developing breasts. As a young lady she entered many pageants and even dated her Martial Arts teacher. She further joked about a comment he made to her. Telling her that she was great at Martial Arts but bad at being a girlfriend. She went on to earning a blackbelt in this field.

At age twenty four Tracey started to have intimate feelings for women and began her first relationship with a woman. This lasted for three years. This was the period she said she found her self and her identity. She expressed to her girlfriend that she wanted to become a man. The girlfriend then told her why not be a lesbian but as Tracey explained it was not just about a feeling but more a way of life.

She changed her name from Tracey to Thomas. Thomas started taking Testosterone medications and then surgically had his breasts removed. However, he opted not to have his female reproductive organs removed. His reason he said for this was that he one day wanted to have children. Oprah then expressed that as a man one doesn't normally have a feeling to carry a child. Thomas explained that his need for a child did not define who he is by gender but was a natural human desire experienced normally by both men and women.

He was then advised that he had to live the life of a man for at least one year to be legally and mentally able to transition. Then so he did by starting to wear men's clothing, cut his hair etc. After being on testosterone treatment Thomas explained that his Clitoris increased in size and was similar to a small penis. This enabled him to have intercourse with his wife, Nancy.

Their decision to have Thomas carry their child came as Nancy's womb was removed due to Endimetriosis. This has not been their first pregnancy. Thomas was pregnant prior to this pregnancy and the babies, as it was a multiple pregnancy, got stuck in his fallopian tube. Half of which eventually had to be removed and the pregnancy was terminated. At this point, one of his brothers remarked that it was a fortunate event because the baby might have been a monster.

When asked how other members of his family reacted to his pregnancy Thomas explained that his father still referred to him as Tracey and does not accept him as a man. Nancy's two adult daughters however are very supportive. One even remarked that she and her husband look to her mother's marriage as a role model for marriages and couples.

The couple explained how difficult it was getting a doctor to handle their pregnancies. They said they were rejected by approximately ten doctors before finding their female doctor. She explained that after meeting them she realized how devoted they were and acknowledged that they deserved quality care just the same as any other couple.

Thomas and Nancy further explained that their pregnancy was possible by means of a donor. They selected the sperm and a doctor inseminated it for the first pregnancy. After driving a long distance for this, Nancy did the insemination for the second pregnancy.

Their neighbors' were also interviewed as to their reaction to the pregnancy news. The couple explained that they were not shocked when they first found out. They were more surprised because they thought it was the wife who was pregnant and not Thomas. The husband said he never knew Thomas was a woman in the past.Although, he thought Thomas was a sensitive and gentle man. He suspected Thomas had a secret which was about his past and losing his mother but not about sexuality. They neighbors' nonetheless, said that its something they have accepted and are non-judgmental.

I agree. They make it seem as though there is some type of "out of this world" miracle about to happen. When in fact, it is a woman with gender issues having a baby. Might have something if it were a Hermaphrodite, but she's not even that. She's just confused.

It bothers me how the press continues to call this person a "Man" when it is still a woman that has been taking hormones.
