Unfortunately, keeping this "under wraps" until the 12th week was a major challenge! At the time, I was working for a flooring company as an Accounts Payable clerk. During that time, my supervisor was out on medical leave, so I had double the work to do. On top of that, I suffered from "morning" sickness (for me it was anytime of day, not just morning). As a result, any smell or thought of an unpleasant smell would send me running for the back door of the warehouse. Yes, I could have went to the restroom, but I have this consciousness about others having to listen to me vomit! So, every time I would feel the urge rising, up out of my chair I would jump, then through the receiving office I would run, continuing out of the door, through the warehouse, and out the back door (which by the way took time to open, being that it had a stubborn deadbolt). Anyway, as a result of this, my "situation" became quite obvious to a couple of my co-workers, being that they confronted me and asked point blank. At this point, I had only been about 2 months along. Therefore, I hoped that no one would let the "cat out of the bag" before I was ready to. My main concern was that my boss would find out before I felt comfortably about disclosing it to him. As it turned out, on the exact day of the end of the 12th week, I simply walked into his office, and let him know that I needed to have an important talk with him. He offered his time and attention and I disclosed to him that I was 3 months along. He was very understanding and encouraging. Afterwards, I felt a great weight lifted off of my shoulders. Over the next 28 weeks, it became common knowledge to the rest of the office staff.
Here I am a year later, with my 5 and a half month old, beautiful baby girl. I am now a stay at home mother and wife. A proud one at that. As a few words of advice, let me just say for all of you who may be expecting, disclose your pregnancy when you are absolutely comfortable and ready to. Regardless of the response, know that your new little "package" is one of the best things that will ever happen to you!
