Pregnant Woman's Guide to Disney's California Adventures

Michelle S
While pregnant women are restricted from some of the attractions at Disney's California Adventures in the Disneyland Resort in California, there are plenty more attractions that they are able to enjoy. California Adventures has many attractions and only a few of them of them are specifically restricted for pregnant women.

The rides at Disney's California Adventures that pregnant women are not advised to ride are: Grizzly River Run, California Screamin, Orange Stinger, Maliboomer, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Soaring Over California, and Muholland Madness. All of these ride either move at high speeds, have unexpected jolts, and/or or high G-forces. Riding these rides can potentially cause pre-term labor or placentia previa, which are both harmful to baby and mother. Soaring Over California is restricted, not due to movement, but to the restrictive safety harness riders are required to wear.

Though only the previously mentioned rides are specifically restricted at California to pregnant women, there are other rides that women may want to avoid during their pregnancy for various reasons specific to their trimester of pregnancy and the unique pregnancy symptoms they are experiencing.

One attraction that pregnant women may want to consider avoiding is the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. While it isn't a ride with sudden jerks, some of the bridges and other sections of the ropes course move unpredictable when other rambunctious guests are on it.

Pregnant women who suffer from morning sickness may also want to avoid rides that aggravate individuals with motion sickness. Rides like Mickey's Fun Wheel and King Triton's Carousel may cause a pregnant woman's sensitive stomach to turn.

Of course, pregnant women cannot participate in the wine tasting at the Golden Vine Vineyard Terrace, but there are plenty of other foods available to satisfy any cravings they may have. California Adventures showcases the many ethnic foods available in California.

Pregnant women will want to use the restroom before waiting in long lines. The smaller restrooms near the edges of the park are generally less busy that the centrally located restrooms near the entrances to California Adventures and the entrances to the individual areas.

Any pregnant women who are unfamiliar with the rides at Disney's California Adventures can ask any cast member (which is the term used to describe all Disneyland Resort employees) about their particular concerns. Of course, all pregnant women should consult with their doctor before going on any Disney rides.
