Pregnant Women, Celebrate Halloween with These Easy Costume Ideas

Amy Wells
Just because you are pregnant, doesn't mean you should give up dressing for Halloween. Each year, more and more adults spend time and money putting together a Halloween costume for parties, haunted house excursions, and more. Here are some easy ways to dress-up for the festivities.

A great Halloween costume will allow you to celebrate your pregnancy without sacrificing comfort. If you're not up for making your own costume, many costume stores are now offering a variety of costumes in maternity and plus-sizes. These costumes are often age-old favorites. A little browsing will reveal many variations of a naughty nun, a ghost, a vampire, and other traditional Halloween favorites.

If you plan to purchase a costume online, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to make sure it fits. Pick a store that offers some sort of return policy, so you can try on the costume before your scheduled Halloween events. You want to make sure your choice is comfortable, and offers plenty of freedom for movement.

Another option, if you would like to get into the Halloween spirit without going all-out, is to use accessories. Hats, wigs, and face paint are great ways to create a low-maintenance costume. For example, it's easy to be a cat, a clown, or a witch without dressing from head to toe.

A third option would be to incorporate your baby bump as part of the costume. If you want to show off your belly, you can use body paints, body jewels, and make-up to incorporate your belly into the costume. Other ideas include painting a ball, like a soccer or basketball on your tummy. Or, to truly celebrate Halloween, you can paint your bump as a pumpkin. These types of costumes are usually very comfortable, and allow you to flaunt your pregnancy in a fun fashion.

Just because you are pregnant, does not mean you have to avoid celebrating Halloween with a costume. From elaborate to simple, there are costumes out there for nearly everyone experiencing a pregnancy. This is a great opportunity to relax and have fun, and enjoy the Halloween season.
