Prenatal Stimulation: Connecting With Your Baby

Mr. firdaus
The journey of parenthood is a tough albeit fulfilling one. As parents, you want the best for your child. It is therefore vital that you are furnished with the knowledge on how to give your baby head start in life. It is exciting the first time you feel your baby move inside of you. As for the impending fathers, they have to wait a little longer to feel the unborn baby move by placing their hands on the mother's belly. This normally happens after 30 weeks gestation.

Life begins not at birth but in the mother's womb. It is during pregnancy that the rapidly developing brain and nervous system of your fetus is most vulnerable and special care and attention should be paid to the development of the fetus. Through proper nourishment and stimulation, you can actually shape your baby's mental and physical growth whilst he or she is still nurturing in your womb. Even after birth, you should and can be an instrumental part in the enrichment and fostering of your baby's health and growth.

It's remarkable what a growing baby is capable of. Research has shown us the unborn baby can hear. She hears the sound of mother's heart beat, stomach juices, blood coursing through the blood vessels and also sounds from outside the womb. According to many mothers, their baby likes to be sung or talked to. She is receptive to mother's feelings and moods. When mother is stressed, baby will respond by changing his movements. Sometime, the respond of the baby become faster and it's disturbed the mother.

She is sensitive to temperature. If mother is standing in front of a stove cooking, baby may be uncomfortable and will react by moving. Mothers could be feeling the moving of the baby. She reacts to pressure to the tummy. Many fathers find that baby stops moving whenever they put their palm on their mother's tummy. On the other hand, baby will react by moving or giving a kick when mother's gently pat their tummy.

The unborn baby is also sensitive to light. This is especially true in the third trimester when the abdomen is bigger and the abdominal wall is thinner. Research has also shown that baby is exposed to different taste through the food that mother is eating. Her movements in the womb are not limited to just the hands and legs. Indeed she can move her fingers, suck her thumb and open her eye lids.
