Prenatal Yoga Classes in Ventura and Oxnard

Yoga is a Popular Way to Prepare Body and Mind for Childbirth

Rachel de Carlos
Prenatal yoga classes are a healthy and fun way to begin the bonding process with your baby. Stretching, breathing and relaxation techniques may help the body cope with the changes taking place as pregnancy progresses. Learn how to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the birth and beyond with qualified instructors of yoga who are also knowledgeable in childbirth and labor.

Practicing key elements, such as muscle strengthening, endurance, relaxation, flexibility, and breathing awareness, will add to a healthy and fulfilling pregnancy and birth experience. Classes are gentle and nurturing, focusing on the pregnancy with safe and comfortable positions.

Prenatal yoga is one of the most effective ways to prepare for delivery, keeping you relaxed during labor and the birth. No previous experience is required for these classes, but check with your doctor before starting any exercise program, especially during pregnancy.

When exercising while pregnant, be sure to drink plenty of water, take in extra calories, wear non-restrictive clothing, don't lie flat on your back, get up from the floor slowly, don't overdo it, but make exercise a habit. You'll find that prenatal yoga, along with light cardiovascular exercise such as walking, will keep your body toned and help you get your figure back sooner after the baby is born.

Mothers are amazing in the way they carry their babies, give birth, then nurture their infants and raise them to adulthood. The process begins at conception and should be cherished for a lifetime. Learning about what happens to your body as it changes shape while the baby grows is as exciting as it is awesome. To avoid the fears of first time parenthood, classes associated with pregnancy and childbirth are encouraged. Prenatal yoga is just one way to prepare your body and mind.
