Prepaid Cellular VS Standard Cellular Plans
Prepaid Plans. First lets take a look at the prepaid cellular telephone advantages. The prepaid or pay as you go cellphones allow parents to take control of cellphone talk time and monthly bills. These cellphones are available without having to sign a contract or pay high fees. In addition, there is no need to supply a credit card. To add minutes to the prepaid phone simply purchase a phone card. Phone cards range in price from about $10 up to $100. The prepaid phone card is usually valid for about 90 days. And the cellphone owner must remember to purchase a new phone card at least every 90 days to keep the cellphone fully activated. The disadvantages to prepaid phones are that the minutes are higher, cellular telephone selection is minimal, and those using prepaid phones usually have to pay extra high fees for web browsing, instant messaging, texting, or email.
Standard Contract Plans. Standard cellular phone contracts boast several advantages. Advantages include access to better quality cellular telephones with more features. Many high quality cellular phones are offered to customers at deep discounts or for free. More perks are also offered with the cellphone plan. And there are several disadvantages; cellular telephone plans require their customers to take out a long term contract lasting one or two years. Higher monthly fee's ranging from around $25 dollars and up. A basic plan provides about 300 minutes. This is a good amount of talk time for the average adult. But teens might use up these minutes well before the month ends. If the purchaser goes over the basic minutes, they are charged higher rates for each minute over their limit. This might add up to considerable extra charges.
Both prepaid cellular and standard cellular plans have their advantages and disadvantages. Use the information in this article to determine the best plan for you and your teen.

Post a CommentPrepaid is a great option for parents whom want to get their teens a cell phone but want to be in control of it. I got my son a Tracfone. His service averages less than $7 a month when I buy a $20 airtime card, which provides 60 minutes of airtime and three months of service. Tracfone gives me the safety and security of a wireless phone without the problems of a contract and monthly fees.
You know everyone has and is entitled to their opinions. I would like to share my experience with Tracfone. From the sale (about 6 months ago)to enrolling to buying minutes has been a positive so far. No more contracts for me. And, now I have discovered that you can buy a Double Your Minutes for Life card. You pay a one-time fee and then every time you buy minutes, you actually get double what you pay for. The phone gets a lot of use, so this is a great deal!
@jsmith, I checked out the kajeet plans but unfortunately the Sprint network is non-existent around our home area. I signed up for a Sprint phone a while ago and had to return it within two days because it was just not working anywhere near my home. We now use NET10 prepaid phones for our kids and they are actually really great! Excellent coverage, low prices and good phone selection. Our kids love 'em.
